top 21mm nut, front strut

Car  Focus RS Mk1
i need to get hold of a spanner that is offset or cranked in 21mm.

frustrating as my coilovers are arriving tomorrow and i wanna get ready for them. the rest of the suspension is off already. Just those two top bolts!

Looked round the local motor shops n none of them have a spanner that i need. anyone know where i can get one quick. will halfords have them?

Also when dropping the rear springs n shocks off its normal for the rear beam to drop down so the road wheels sit back on the floor?
cheers

Sean

Yeah....the rear beam drops....thats normal. The front nuts you mention....they normally require an impact wrench to remove as the front schock shaft there bolted to will spin. I had to put my car back together and drive to garage to get them free'd off as I didn't have access to one. Then put them on hand tight and drive home.

yeah i was thinking of doing it with a gun but dont have the compressor working. i know my mate has a big gun we can use.

cheers

You need a cranked 21/22mm spanner (can't remember which) and a 6mm allen key to hold the strut while you undo/tighten the top mount. No impact gun required.

If you undo the 21mm bolt when the wheels on the floor then I found the shock doesnt spin. I always made sure that I loosed these 2 bolts first

i know i need to hold with 6mm allen key, thats not a problem.

have a 21mm spark plug socket with spanner accessory so can do it now.

cheers for the advice :)
