looking at this guide which i used http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?590074-Fitting-VMAXX-Coilovers-to-a-182

i didnt have the part inbetween the top mount rubber and coilover seen in this pic. only the bearing and other part.

so tomorrow i need to re-do it.

My first attempt, and i only did this bit wrong. quite impressed but also completely dogged off. ive checked old coilovers etc and its not there. so i have no idea.

Laugh, take the piss, say what you like... but please help and advise.

Be nice :)

(dreading the comments on this btw)

The part you have pointed to is part of the bottom rubber top mount, can be seen in my pic.
So I can't see how it can be missing.

my old one looks like this

so im assuming the ones i fitted look the same. i dont know whats gone wrong. but it isnt right.

just in the pic i arrowed too, it looked like two parts to me. whereas mine is one complete part. so i assumed it was missing, clearly isnt though.

Any ideas what ive done wrong? Will be taking it all off tomorrow, but id like some ideas etc before.

Cant stop going over and over today in my head, but cant think what i did/didnt do.

130 views. Either ive been really stupid and ppl are ignoring this problem, or no one actually knows what it could be.

wtf have i done wrong, come on ppl!!

Top mount upside down? Lol
Something loose?
Missing something?

Hard to tell without seeing your parts, as that pic of the strut isn't yours, so we really have no clue till we do.

Is the 3rd pic yours? if so was it tight? If it was, can you see anything stopping it going lower when you take it off?

Process of elimination.

yeah third pic is mine,

just took the caps off, this is what is looks like underneath

hmm, doesnt look right.

That's perfectly correct

The bit you're saying you have missing is the bit under the strut - the bit you just photographed

I suspect you've put the rest on in the wrong order as something is stopping it clamping down as far as it will go

Put a photo up of the top mount "bits" and the order you're trying to fit them in

Ive got the blue cap on top of the spring, then the bearing and then the rubber and then that metal top hat thing and then the nut which holds it all on.

In that order.

From that pic of it underneath, it looks like you may have got the bearing upside down, so the metal collar thing in the centre, isn't sitting flush with the rubber bit.

  Cup In bits
The rubber top mount is meant to go on last after nut.

Spring - top hat - washer - nut - bearing - top mount -fit strut then on with top caps.

That's how I would do it with what you have and it will drop the top caps down a good bit. Will be fine if the bearing goes over the lock nut.

Sorted.

Took both coilovers apart. Reassembled but used the old top mount rubber but still new bearing.

Was a febi part, not from renault. May explain it.
