torsion bar question

i have f**k up the thread on one of my torsion bars, is it possible to take the other one out and knock the one without thread out that way??? thanks

you know the diameter id need? the bar seems to be rusted in so it gunna take some hammering, anyone know where i can get a long bar bout a meter and a half long from????

anyehere!

if you have a long breaker bar that should work

or do it fron inder the bar and youll get away with an extension bar inside the centre backet.

has anyone else had the problem of a rusted bar? is this the best way to get it out? cus my car loooks so stupid at the moment... lob sided!!! lol..... new alloys on Sunday tho!!! (and my K&N) :)

if you cant retap the threaded hole then i would remove the other torsion bar and knock it from the inside.lube up the splines before you refit so you can get it out easier next time if you have to.be careful not to damage the inner set of splines when your knocking it out.

Best thing to do is cover it in WD-40 a week or so before you plan to do it, that way it should slide out nice an easy

i got this stuff from Halfords for 4.99, meant to be better than WD40..... says professional on the bottle any way so ill keep spraying that i think!!!! and then ill have a go

that duck oil is good but if its rusted in there good you may have to get abusive with a hammer.

use plus gas......its a penetrative fluid, WD40 is a water dispersant.....just happens to be ok at loosening stuff.

Never listen to anyone from Halfords, especially a women!! How did you manage to f**k up the thread? Its only a matter of pulling it out and pushing it back in again, so to speak ;)

james what happened? if the thread has had it you are gonna have to smack it out like everyone has said. in B&Q they should have very long bolts with no head that you could use.

the only bad thing i can think of tho is that you are going to really need to hit it hard to get it out.

Sorry i am a dick. while i was writing that reply i was having a conversation with my mate (his name is james) and i wrote the wrong name, freudian slip. realised i did it in my last lession but was too late to come back and edit!!

sorry again matt i do know it i swear lol!
