Touch up Spraying & Blending

Has anybody got any tips/guides for spraying & blending touch ups? I'm fine spray painting whole panels, but I've never done any touch up work, so I'm looking for some advice before I dive in and make a mess.

Touch up using a cocktail stick mate, build up layers of base coat then lacquer then leave a day till solid then wet flatten then polish!

It's not stone chips sorry. I've got to derust and repaint around my side repeaters, and also the lips of my arches.
