Toyo proxies on 172 cup

  Titanium ph1 turbo

After 17000 miles on my original tyres with 2mm left on the front and 5mm left on the rear, ive just paid £207 today for 4 new toyo proxies all fitted.

Good deal ?

you got 17000 miles out of a set of tyres? At that rate it doesnt matter what you paid for the Toyos, theyre hardly costing you a penny!

Not a bad price though ;)

Ye, but in my experience the Toyos is in the wet, shockingly bad.. in the dry they are pretty good. But im sure Toyo released a 2nd version of them that is supposed to be better in the wet.

hmm it was either toyo proxies for £52 a corner or yokos for £56 a corner (fitted etc)... i went with the proxies as they had the F1 style tread pattern

i seriously dunno how the f**k i managed this. i even kept the 2 old rear tyres and brought them home for spares as they still have 5mm left on them each. and i DO drive my cup hard on occasions. maybe the roads up here in newcastle are better or smt :p

TOYO PXT1S 80V 195/45 R16....

t1s,for some reason a lot of garages are selling these as the new ones if you go on toyos website like said the new one is the t1r i think they changed the pattern on the outside slightly which it needed.good in the dry yeah in my opinion even on a 1.2 they were crap in the wet like everyone said but have heard a lot of people who disagree also so start wearing them in!

jeepers creepers!!!!!!!!!!

17k on tyres you lucky lucky ......

i wanted proxies ordered them and tyre shop fitted them to some one elses car doh

got A539s classic old track tyre loads of slide noise grippy and worn out in less than 2.5K

as for tyres being crap in the wet come boys slide is good loosing traction is super cool

wheel spining backwards does help lol

toyos in the wet = w**k, go easy until the weather is better. Theyre great in the dry though.
yeah, had that problem too.

as above, in the wet, they are awful

in dry, i didnt find them to be that great, i have been known to drive hard most of the time though

only lasted 6k miles too (1.2 16v) same as the contis that are standard on that car

id personally had gone with the all round good yoko a539 tyre, wouoldnt have been disappointed

How the hell do you measure the thread on your tyres? And what is the legal limit? I have Proxies at the mo....

Ive got Toyos on the front, not bad but do understeer a lot in the wet...gonna swap em for Exalto2s when they are done.

inbetween the tread therell be wear bars, then theyre down to these then its new tyres time.

Does anyone find the 172 becomes harder drive when the tread is down towards the legal limit. In the greasy conditions we have at the moment, I find I get alot of torque steer and camber chasing. Grip seems none existent when wheels slightly off centre.

Just changed my fronts for some Federals! £96 all in fitted. Seem OK and the side walls have a little lip to protect the alloys a bit. Motorway / dc driving mainly so not that bothered about on the limit handling.

Ill be onto the forth set of fronts on mine shortly in 27k miles, 3 pairs of Contis and Im switching to A539s now.

Toyos seem to be the choice of Impreza owner with some great reviews regarding wet weather handling.

Another set of Contis for me I think.......

i have them on my cup - at first was not impressed with them at all, however once i covered a few hundred miles they got better and better. I am very impressed with them now. A bit twitchy in the wet but ok. Just give them time to bed in.
