Hi guys,
My ps3s are almost down to the bars on the front and really want to try a set of road legal track/fast Road Tyres that aren't the pilot sports.

Has anyone on here tried them on the road and how bad are they in wet weather? Also what's wear like with regular and fast Road driving? What kind of life can I expect to get from them?

Thinking of just doing the fronts as the rear two Tyres are pretty good knick maybe 3mm, if you're wondering why I wounding swap them front to back it's because when I bought the car it had a eagle f1 on the left rear!

Any advice or knowledge as well as anyone up for selling a set would be greatly appreciated!

Fantastic in the dry and OK in the wet, on track, I wouldn't use them as a road tyre though, they need temperature and wear quickly.

+1 to the above, I use 180 compound NS-2R's for road rallies, I find the wet performance and wear to be better than the R888, with the drop in dry grip to be too marginal to fully exploit on the road. I have been daily driving the NS-2R's as well as I managed to take all my other tyres below legal limit on autosolos, and they seem to be coping ok. I wouldn't want to be driving on completely sodden or lightly flooded roads with them much though.
Also, you wont be able to get 205/45 r16's in r888, if you want the closest rolling radius, 195/50 r15 is best, but if you want to fit them to 16 inch wheels, you'll have to go to 205/55 or 195/50. Semislicks usually have a deeper section to allow more space to reinforce the sidewall.

Thanks guys, I'll keep the advice in mind, I was worried about paying 3-500 quid on a tyre like this and having to replace them again in 6 months, maybe I'll stick to ps3's or eagle f1's?

I am looking to track my car at something just for a bit of fun, I might hold it out until then and try them then!

Just got for some federal 595rsr's.

I have a set on my road wheels for the Megane, I run R888's on my track wheels but only used them on track really so can't comment on the wear.

As for federals I've used them for Trackdays and road driving for the past 2 years and really can't fault them [emoji106]

Cheers, just had a look at these! Good reviews and lot of good things said about this tyre! I might just grab four while they're a good price, any ideas on where's the best/cheapest place to get them? Am I safe using eBay for these? Tweeks have got four for 350? Thats not a bad price?

I got a set of 595's from http://www.camskill.co.uk/ last week, I think they were £61each.

Don't bother with r888's on road as they are like plastic when cold, and in the wet when cold are damn right dangerous, the noise is also terrible, stick with a road tyre if you already have them on the rear axel. Also I wouldn't touch the f1's personally as the sidewalls are super soft and roll over on themselves under spirited driving.

Ah that's interesting about the f1's I guess the person who had the car before had a puncture and couldn't get an ps3 on it wherever they went, I'm going with the 595 rsr's on the front to see what they're luke as a few on here have said they're good for both!

Just a word of caution to running semi slicks on the front and normal tyres on the back, it will make the car quite oversteery if you are pushing hard...

Just want to say we recommend customers to replace tyres at 3mm because wet weather performance drastically reduces after that point, so just a heads up
