Track car choices what would you choose

  c20let corsa
Hi guys I'm new to cliosport and posting on here and I'm after your help!

im after a pretty cheap track day car and am after a Clio but what would you choose and what's the differences?

What do you have regarding to a track based Clio and what have you done or recommend to get done first

Im not fussed about looks or interior as it will all be removed obviously.

All choices and opinions welcome.

Cheers scott

Ph1 172 as they are pretty cheap nowadays. Fit some proper suspension, brakes and tires. Give the car a good check over to make sure everything is sound. I'd recommend a bucket seat and harness aswell.

  '53' clio 172 cup
ive just got a 172 cup ph2, (still holding their value at min) but ive heard a ph1 is supposed to be a good tracker, i cant wait to have a few track days in the cup.

So is there many differences between a phase 1 and phase 2. I've got buckets and harnesses to go in just needing some advice really.

A cup is the best option as whatever else you buy you'll want to remove crap such as ABS, Aircon etc etc.

A Cup is ready made in that respect.

There's the ph1, ph2 and a ph2 cup, i have the latter and would recommend it for track days.

There is differences between all three mate, i know cup suspension doesnt fit on to a ph2. ph1 has a throttle cable where as ph2 doesnt.
The ph1 is supposedly ph-quick, but i had one and both my cups feel quicker.

IMO it's gotta be a cup.

+1 but I am biased ;-) if I had the choice again I'd go ph1

find a cheap 172 with belts done,as the cups tend to hold more money so leaves u less to upgrade parts with

Cup for me.

But you could also find a cheap ph1 with belts done and then strip the hell out of it, just go mental on it and with any funds left over you could buy some mod's.

:)
