Im currently unsure of what direction to go with my car. Its done now to a good drivable state and im sure i could have some great fun with it in its current form. Im not planning to do anything else (to improve it) for a while, just reliability/maintanence/slightly more weight saving stuff. Need to learn to drive it like it is first but funds are very tight after getting the car sorted and buying us a nice daily driver and i can see me struggling to get the money together for track days.
As some of you may know i have a set of H&R's sat in my spare room that i could sell to release some funds. As if i was to fit them id be replacing bushes, top mounds and joints at the same time, then get them set up properly so id be looking at 400-500 quid to get that done and its just not gonna happen in the near future, thats a hell of alot of track days!
Id rather sort the front brakes out first as they are currrently stock/patern pads and discs. meaning the coilovers could be sat around for quite some time. The car is curretly on apex springs and handles well (on the road)
Do you feel the need to get coilovers? Its widely accepted that coilovers are very good but many people on here seem to do very well without.
I reckon tho that if i sold the coilovers id never buy another set, im not sure i could justify the expense. maybe a change to eibach sportlines and new standard shocks would be a good way to go. My old 172 on prolines was great.
Maybe the decision would be easier if id had experiance of a coilover'd car
At the begining i had loads of plans for the car, like 182 mainfold and matched inlets etc but as time as gone on and the bank balance has got worse ive decided that its not worth changing stuff that isnt going to give me a big benefit. The little money i have is better spent enjoying the car.
Any thoughts on this would be helpful.
