Track day suspension

I am going to be doing some track days in my 172 and want some within reason decent suspension to go on it.

The reason I say decent is that I have had the experience of cheap avo coilovers on my williams before now and it was w**k.

What do seasoned ppl recomend and what cost am I looking at. Would prefer adjustables so I can turn it down for road driving.

Yeah, Im tempted to just get some lowering springs for my first couple and then go from there?

thats Mark paul, not me! pointless blowing cash without trying the car on track first

buy Bilstein, H&R, AST, KW

when running ur avos did you have the courner weights setup and full geomertry check.

run avos on my old mk3 astra and track nova avos on vauxs are verygood compeared to others.

H&R £800+
theres ast's highly recommend similar price i think.

1.) AVO's werent geometry set up I just didnt like them felt like s**t and took them off.

2.) The standard stuff has a bit too much roll for me. Reckon just get some lowering/stiffer springs then? On the other hand I am happy with the ride height and just maybe stiffer springs with marginal drop?

I would agree but I got stiffer springs on mine and its horrible for everyday driving! Feel everything in the road even when you run over a sodding ANT!

Wish I would of got coillies now to be honest but never mind.

Sounds like you need Eibach Prolines or Sportlines for now and go from there.

I thought my prolines handled themselves pretty well on my first trackday last week. More than enough until I actually get good enough to push the car properly.

Would be more concerned about your brake setup if its still stock.

Really?

I swear you've said that in the past...

If I had the time I'd trawl through and prove it - but I can't be arsed so you get off this time ;) LoL :rasp:

Cheers boys £100 odd set of springs sounds more appealing right now than 1k of coilies.

The Sportlines are a very good compromise for the supension for split use between track and normal roads. If you do decide on coilovers just steer clear of the cheaper ones as you loose out on the damper quality.

remember though if you do go coilovers and "whack them on" without a quality setup (i'm talking using a motorsport company here, not a kwik fit/my mate dave jobbie") and just have the tracking done of course they'll "feel crap"

your suspension is only as good as the setup!

Somewhere like Jameswatt? ;)

I'm applying for a job there, tea-boy and entertainer of female clients. I'm cheaper than a courtesy car.

"the Twig" got new a new toy yesterday :D

I think I will just get a trophy if I dont like the 172 on a track day.
