track days

Car  Clio sport 172
Track days on a standard 172 ( non cup) suspension ???

anyone done/doing it?

just to start off before upgrading...or is this not recommended lol

Don't attemt it with standard suspension. 172's weren't designed to use on track.

what pure standard!! tom ?

100% No need for all the gizmos for the start, just make sure the car is healthy - possibly a good service prior - and get stuck in.

If you get bitten by the bug (which you will ;)) then if you want to make the car that much sharper you can buy some toys etc

i've got standard 182 with cup packs, bar exhaust. Don't really want to mess with the suspension, i like the ride as it is. Any upgrades recommended for track days? I was just thinking upgrade the pads and discs?

I echo the standard option.

I got mine new, and over 125k miles and many trackdays I've stuck with standard (got through 3 complete sets). The only reason I'm now on Sportlines is because I had a cracked front spring, and there were no used standard sets for sale on here.

Give it a go, take some tuition, lots if you can, then decide which bit of your car you want to make work better.

Im planning on track days this year, my suspension in staying standard for now, all il be doing is upgrading brakes and getting a decent recliner bucket seat and a harness for better support. If i really get into it il be looking at some decent suspension.

India will be in here tomorrow banging on about the Whiteline ARB is the only suspension mod required....However I cannot commment as not got one but it does get great reviews.
