Track Rod Ends and Ball Joints

So I went to get the tracking done today, and it couldn't be done due to the track rod end and ball joint needing replaced. Was going to have a bash at them myself, sadly I only have a four poster ramp and I've heard a lot of 'brute' force is required to get the pin out with the ball joint replacement?

Is it safe to do on a jack? Also anyone know what tools I'll need for both jobs?
