Track Wheel Question....

  172 Cup SOLD
The Cup currently run's 16" Turini's with 205/45 Eagle F1's on.

Thinking of possibly get a set of track rubber for next year but if I want them in 16" the profiles are different to the ones on my Turini's.

I'm thinking this would muck up my geo settings somewhat and ideally want them as accurate as I can.....so if I dropped down to 15" rims for track use with a slightly thicker tyre would this measure the same as a 16" wheel with a 205/45 on?

Sorry if this is confusing.....it's confusing me too!

It depends on which track rubber you wanna run?

Toyo 888R's or Yokohama A048R's are 2 good choices but I wouldn't go for 205's as there too expensive and may foul your arches.

I run 205/50/15s on track on standard suspension and rubbing's never been an issue.

Got some 15" rims for sale too if you're interested...could bring them to FCS?

Seeing your wheels Mark is what has actually got me asking this question.

Would 205/50 15's be similar in overall height/depth to a turini wrapped in 205/45 16?

Cheers

I think the rolling radius might be slightly bigger on the ones I use, but not so much that you'd notice any difference at all.

The only real difference I can tell when running the 15" track tyres is the noise from the tread pattern, and the crashy low speed ride from the stiff sidewalls.

You really do need to buy my wheels ;)

I know somebody selling some ATS wheels (lighter than supperleggras) with R888 that have only done 1 trackday if you are interested? 195/50/15's
