Track Wheels & Tyre Size Question

OK the car is a 172 cup with Koni's and Sporlines.

Im looking to get a set of track tyres and have the option of some 205/50 16's Dunlop slicks. These will be fitted to a spare set of Turinis.

OK, people have said they will catch. Now from investigation my current setup (Koni/Sportlines) and 205/45 16 have never catched even at the ring (very slightly round Karrousel). Now going to this 205/50 size increase the RR by approx 10mm.....

Looking at the renaultspot website then the Group N rally cars run 20/61 16 slicks on Turinis. Given this is it possible to use the proposed 205/50 16's................

Please any relevant input welcome..

have you taken the cup out with those that are on it at the minute in the dry yet?

and you would need the pressures about 30 all round when they are hot / warm.

Yes but only in the wet, had to go to work today and they are not balanced so as a thank you for me lending the wheels a had them all balanced this morning. Im sure there is a little flatspot on one of the wheels though......(not me BTW)

They are still OK in the damp, the thing you notice is that the side walls dont flex at all. These Dunlops DJ01's are s**t hot, had some on the EVO and can get this 205/50 16's at 88 quid a pop..!

oh thank you Steve.

By the way, if you get a chance, could you grab a photo of them on the car?

Track Wheels and tyres anyhow:

Tyres - Either the PS Cups you have on there now, A048 R's or Yokohoma Parada's last resort Kumho V70's.

Wheels - How much of the kerb do you use?

:)

As you know i have a set of Turini's so would like 16inch. Kumho V70 are available 205/46 16 but yes i know i shoulnt the Dunlops are very cheep and as good as any track tyre.

PS cups , A048R are not available in a suitable size in 16 inch.

Paradas are a road tyre and no where near the performance of the above track day tyres.

Yoz2a - I am not doubting your word, but are Kumho V70A really not very special? The attraction is that they come in 205/45 x16 and are on the MSA list 1.b, with soft and medium compounds, whereas the Parada is not on 1.a or 1.b.
At present my inclination is run 205/50x15 A048R. 585 mm diameter vs 591 for 205/45x16.

For the track Kuhmo V70's are definately better than Parada's.....
