Tracking

Argh.

Just went to get me tracking checked.. before Scotland.

Ok, So I wait about for 1 hour.

Finally, get it on the ramp.. and it (the nut whatever) aint moving. So he gives it some, and it still aint moving.

He then gets a blow torch out.. *starts to worry* and I have glowing metal under my car, with hot rocks.. hes warming it up.

*15mins later* Still doing it.

*30mins later* "Its siezed.. we cant do it." They say.

THEN, proceeds to give me a quote for new track rod ends, axle etc.. for £200!

you wont need a new axle just a new rack and 2 track rod ends !! That is if its seized !! Sounds pretty stuck to me tho !!

Yea, he saw the car and tried it on a bit I think.

About £120 in parts.. for me to do it!

Where did you go daz ? Theres a VERY good place in whythal that has a laser tracker, worth the trip !! £20 and its very accurate !! They wont give up until its tracked !!

Think theyre trying it on m8 - id find it hard to beleive that theyd be completely seized on a car off your age.

When i had my PAS rack changed i had to have 2 new track rod ends as they wouldnt come out for sh*t !! They would move so i could have had it tracked up but there was no way they were coming out !! soak em in WD40 and take it to the wythall place !!

Mine are seized as well mate. Garage have tw*tted mine with a lump hammer to break any rusted/welded connection and then soaked them in WD40. Theyve told me to give it a week and then go back in.

Just off to give them another soaking now.
