Traction control myth... and question...

  Clio 197

Hi all...

This is not totally clio related, however, on many posts I have noticed references to the Megane 225s traction control... plus youll probably know the answer to my question...

You CAN switch the traction control off, as long as you are doing less than 30mph. So you can certainly use it to move off...

As soon as you go over 30, it re-activates... But Id like the option, rather than being forced into it...

Q : Is this a lap top job to change it?

Thanks,

Oms.

You could hack into the Cars ecu and do it (or whatever runs the t/C0 but its nearly impossible.

One idea might be to disconnect the speed sensor (ie in the gearbox) so the car doesnt know what speed its doing so it doesnt engage, but your speedo will stop working.

JAY Ive looked into this, so long as you can get the software I think you can make a loom up quite cheap, although this does depend on how helpful Renault are making the software but since they use the K and L OBD technology the loom might just plug in with the computer and work.

I dont think it would be possible, Im sure the Megane gets its speed signal from the ABS system.

If I get one in work and If I remember I will have a look to see what configurable on the system.

im going to get renault clip set up at home but the can boxes are pricey so ive been looking for alternatives. seeing as the obd system is supposed to be universal i thought cheaper alternatives like the posted link might work.
