Tramlining

  Clio 182
Hi, just bought my clio sport 182 and it's an amazing machine but the car tends to tramline a lot especially when cruising along slowly. I also found that theres a lot of torque steer when i take it through the revs. Is this normal?

I've driven a 172 counltess times, I can't say that i've found it to tramline. maybe a 182 is different ??

182 has the wider track Craig, I found it noticeable initially but now it's all part of the driving experience.

My 172 tramline's also, maybe depends what tyres you have on. Small amount of torque steer, but nothing like on my fiesta turbo when I turned the boost up, where I could end up in another lane :D

Yes will tramline, I never noticed any torque steer with mine although I haven't noticed it in the megane either so who knows.

Thanks for the replies. May be the tyres causing the tramlining but i'll check the tracking just to be sure. As for the torque steer, well, I did come up from an escort so maybe I just have to get used to it.

Any new car I buy, 1st thing I do is get full alignment check done, never ever bought a car where it was spot on. Get your alignment, tyre pressures etc done.

my 172 tramlined really badly, to the point whre i actually had to pull off the motorway as i thought there was something wrong, changed the wheels and it has never happebned since

I find the tramlining and torque steer increases noticably as the tyres wear down throughout their life.

Also it does seem to vary hugely from brand to brand...overall the general 'feel' of the car is very sensitive to tyres and pressures.

Do you advise sticking to the michelin exaltos or is there another brand that will cure tramlining and improve grip.
