transferring a private plate info pls

Hi all.

You may have seen the posts that im getting a private plate for my cup,

but theres afew questions i dont know about. -

If i wanted to transfer it a new car what do i have to put on the car?

Some people say you still own the original reg and this can simply be put back on.

And some people say that the original reg is put back into the system and a new one has to sourced from DVLA (with mathing year (03)?

Ive browsed the DVLA website but it doesnt explain ?

Anyone know ??? Cheers.........

  Audi A3 TDI 170 B.E.

^ as above done it when I sold my car (completed in about 2 hours at DVLA office) cost £105 for the transfer, this include putting it on another car when needed.

Original reg. was returned.

try here http://www.dvla.gov.uk/welcome.htmhttp://www.dvla.gov.uk/welcome.htm
cheers mate,

Just phoned em up, they said the same , you will get one back maybe yours, maybe not, but they will put one back on for you free.

And £80 to put it on a new car...

Ill try and leave it on i think........ The plate reads T 2.0 CUP.:)

Yep, £80 transfer fee. But if you do what I did (sell old car before buying new car) it costs you another £25 to put it onto retention for 12 months! Always had original plate returned too.

Nice plate BTW! But when you eventually get rid of the Cup youd be as well selling the plate with it - unlikely to match any other car.

If you do then get the plate valued and either sell the plate seperate or sell the car with the plate extra.
