Trim Dressings.

Is there a trim dressing that doesn't smear on paintwork? I've only used AG Bumper gel but it has to be wiped off paintwork when it's been applied to trims.

I know most other dressings won't disappear on paint but I was wondering if there are any exceptions to the rule.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but it would make life just that little bit easier.

Not a stupid question and I see your point.

I'd always recommend wiping the residue off the trim paint anyway so even if you get a bit of overspill from applying you just wipe it off.

Waxes like Zymol Carbon actually work on plastics and rubbers. Swissvax nano express is a bit of a trade secret.

Wekstat jett also works on glass and trim. Gtechniq C4 works great on trim and shares with the paintwork equivilent so just wipe it off straight away.

Personally i'd just apply it neater and wipe off any excess.

All products that go on paint need wiped. Just like when you apply wax you need to remove it.

Buy a decent trim product. Have you seen AutoFinesse Revive?

all if not most should ideally be removed from the paint if you can't keep it on the trim, as they're not meant to be applied to paint and don't do any good, not that they would probably do any harm other than look awful and probably attract more dirt. The majority of dressings require a wipe down afterwards to remove excess anyway

What do you use to apply the dressing? A foam applicator folded to an edge is pretty accurate,

edit: too late, did it really take me 3minutes to type that?

Thanks for the replies, I want to pick up some of the Zymol Carbon but CYC are currently out of stock and I wanted to get a few other things from them as well :(

I did buy a few Autofinesse products but didn't pick up any Revive. Even though I have only used the AG bumper gel, I'm impressed by the longevity of the beading and protection of it, how does Revive compare?

When I put the dressings on I use a foam applicator or a microfibre. Maybe I should just stop being such a messy pup.

AF revive is a very good non permanent dressing. on my 182 I saw approx 3months on all trim except the front splitter until I applied another coat. a single little blob would easily cover the splitter as well so less to smudge onto the paint. I always used a foam applicator and folded it in my hand to create a pointed edge and worked fine. With revive they do recommend to buff of any left over residue.

C4's not great if you get it somewhere you don't want it though
