Trip Computer! FFS!

Ali

Car  V6, Trackhawk, GTS
Keeps resetting itself to zero!! So no idea how many miles i'm doing to a tank! Not a bit issue, but it is annoyin! (172)

I agree, my battery seemed fine apart from the trip computer reseting. Changed the battery it stopped.

:S Battery is stong, starts easy peasy every time!

Surely if that was the case the radio would reset too?

I made a thread about this, it happens to me too, starts everytime fine, and the only problem i have with it is the trip computer resetting, and one know of what type of battery to get ?

oh...will do without it then...

I thought there may be some reno mode which resets it each time...

My dads 172 does it too, only sometimes though. I asked about it a while ago & was told it's the battery iirc he never changed it, sometimes it does it sometimes not. one day I guess it'll just die on him.

Fcukin annoyin! I want to see how many miles i get to a tank! (Kind of irrelevant) But when you drive a vee it's a funny experiment!

my rs-1 used to do it all the time, changed the battery and has never done it since.

used to start 1st time too.

is very annoying though, i like to see how many miles i get to a tank

My 172 did this and was fine once I changed the battery.

I didn't believe it was the battery either as it started fine and the radio keep it's stations.

Defo the battery, just pop into Halfords, look at their list for your car and buy the battery thats recommended.

Hmm, think this has happened to mine a few times recently and have though nothing of it apart from being an 'electrical querk'... best get a new battery I suppose.

I was gonna ask about this but you beat me to it. Mine's been pissing me off as it resets. I wrote my mileage when i filled it last time so I could work it out :)

LOL. Me too. Mine's been doing it for a year + without any other problems. Definitely resets more frequently in cold weather or after longer periods of not using it.

Think my battery is now finally beginning to go as have had a couple of slower starts recently in the v. cold weather.

Yep 99% sure if you change your battery the problem will be solved and the slower starting issues will be improved as well :)

My battery gave up the ghost on a sunday morning when I was due in work for 7am! sods law. Changed it and now no probs with the mileage resetting :)

I'm not sure how resetting the clocks will prevent them from resetting when you start the car in future...?

Almost definitely the battery. I got a new battery last week and it resolved the issue on mine. Car also seems more willing to start now.
The battery you need is an 063.

So did mine but defo the battery !! :DI think i was probly the first one to post the soulution for this :quiet:

well mine is still doing it.....bearing in mind this is after i have changed the battery.....

i give up...

oh and my anti-hijack still wont sort itself

Care. Wasn't prepared to change a battery (Which was fine) just to get the trip reading...Bloody reno's!

so is the battery weak then? lol

I've not noticed it doing this tbh mind I put it into diagnostics mode? maybe that sorted it

Mine's been doing it in cold weather for 12 months + now. No other battery problems other than occasional slow starting very recently in v. cold temps.

You just KNOW it will just completely give up one day out of the blue and stand me somewhere nasty. Manchester probably

A new battery doesn't ALWAYS sort it out. It's certainly improved mine, but a faulty UCH seems to be the main cause of my resetting...
