Trophy 220- Opinions...

I couldn't get a drive in the trophy at my local dealers but I did get a drive in a 200t with cup chassis. My god what a car. Loved the gearbox and the power delivery. The general drive and feel was really good. I have to have one next, it's a must now! Really was impressed with it. The only slight rub was the fact this one didn't have the rs monitor, but for the zero track days I do I doubt I need to see what g I'm pulling on the road to work.

It needs to be driven, and taken out for at least half a good day on decent roads to experience RS mode, the paddles... Coming away from manual...

As others have said, it could do with aftermarket wheels. The spoiler is a bit shouty but it does make it stand-out and gives it a bit more aggression. Someone seriously needs to rip-off the RS.16 wheel arches.

Tried to testdrive one of these yesterday, wouldn't let me near it until I'd placed a sizeable deposit. Gutting thing is I genuinely want to buy one, but reluctant to hand any cash over before atleast seeing how it drives given the reviews. I did get the sit in it though, special car, paddles felt a bit mushy and far back. Didn't like how there was no click or feedback to assure you of a successful shift. Possibly the only niggle I could pick.

Tell me about it, 25k with the bits I wanted and I basically just got to sit in it, seemed very reluctant to put any miles on the one they had in so I do suspect even with a deposit, the test drive would be down the road and back. Form what I've heard you can just walk into ford and drive an ST...

Alright everyone! I dont know what happened, I just assumed this thread had gone really quiet but it turns out I hadn't been getting alerts! I must have switched them off somehow...

Updates wise, that LY with the OZ wheels looks epic. Those wheels do look great. @Ricardos Your LY looks awesome too bud! I'm not surprised to hear about people having difficulties getting a test drive. Its a shame. I wonder if dealers realise how many more cars they could sell once people were hooked after driving on!

Can i suggest that you pm which dealer it is to @The Boosh! - considering he works for Renault & runs this site, i'm sure he'd love to know which utterly inept dealer it is.

Happy to ! I would say My local branch in Sunderland was really helpful, they just didn't have a car in for me to test - I'll be popping back to them at the end of the week to see what they can do.

My local Renault dealer don't properly understand customer service either, although there are two or three staff 220's on the car park they 'don't have any for you to look at or go out in'.
This is after I purchased a car from them not 6 months ago!!

Contact renaultuk ask to speak to Jeremy Townsend, his direct line maybe on the Renaultsport webpage, he will get you a test drive. What dealer are you on about?

i brought mine from Nottingham Renault, they had a demo trophy for sale, which was available for test drive, and they were only to happy for us to drive it...... twice!

Kidlington (Oxford) Renault have been brilliant, I didnt even go in to try a 220 but chatted about renaultsport and the guy in there was almost begging me to take it for a drive.

Popped back into the Sunderland branch yesterday, paid the £500 deposit and they drove me down to Middlesbrough to test drive the car today - took me about 30 seconds to get used to the gearbox, I had concerns about the paddle feel when I sat in it last - after driving it I actually like them, there's no drama on the paddle to take your attention away from the drive and it shifts instantly. Car was a little jerky on charges when I first took it out, unsure if this is normal for a cold engine/gearbox or if it was down to the car sitting for days.

So uhm yeah, collect it end of April if all goes well

i assume it was in full auto mode when you first took it out, this mode has the slowest gear changes and they can feel a bit like that , did you try the other modes?

Indeed just popped into drive, was very pleasant pottering about, the jerking was gone after 5 minutes or so ! Then tried sport mode and finally race, tried shifting with the stick but to be honest, I think I preferred to let sport do it's thing and paddles to shift down. I was quite suprised with how stiff it was, coming from a PH1 with cup dampers and cooksports I was expecting not to notice the firmness, but it was one of the first things that stood out for me. only gripe I had after the testdrive was the exhaust could have done with a bit more, but it was the standard system on the car, I've went for the akrapovic so that'll hopefully sort that

Hi in the track monitor, under settings, change the steering to S and the throttle to extreme. The car will need to be in sport mode to do this. Then hold tight Never noticed any jerking from a trophy sorry but they are fun to drive
