Trophy for a cup

Right guys a trophy has come up for sale locally from a dealership. Its a 55 plate with some s/h and a recent cam belt change. Milage is just over 70k. I don't know the exacts because I have only seen the local add.

Now would you p/x my cup against it? I have full s/h recent cam belt and 51k on the clock. Trophy is priced at 4k and I don't think the stealer knows the car that well.

Even if the dealer doesn't know everything about the Trophy, it's rare they'll price a 182 at 4k. That's a low private price really.

Go and test it but I'm going to say it's probably fucked.

I'd be getting a HPI done on that sharpish. Surely that's a couple £K off market value ?! Something's not right. If it's all kosher, snap it up and sell it on !

I saw some strange prices walking past a dealer in Burton the other week, selling a non sport '05' plate for £5K and also an '06' newer shape clio next to it for 5K???

Just phoned up and its done 70010 miles and had the cam belt done within the last 2k which is all documented. Guy sounds like an utter turp though. Popping up tomorrow after work to have a gander.

Definite HPI check!! Has it been maintained on a shoestring budget? (Judging this purely upon "primewell tyres" but please someone correct me if these are the new PE2's)

Even so, at that price if it is legit it is a steal

I noticed the tyres but if you got it for sub £4k its a bargain and you can still give it a major service etc. and still have a bargain.

Or, sell the seats (£700) and the wheels (£450) and have a very cheap '55 plate clio to hurtle about in / turn into a track car, etc.

Think there is 1 Ly on flea bay. I got mine last week from 2 miles away! Got lucky. Only 73 Ly made 29 petrol and I think 500 trophies so they are more common, that's why you see more for sale.

The cheap tyres on it would suggest it's been owned by someone who's not exactly an enthusiast, so there's a good chance the belt has been done half arsed by a local garage, that would be the first thing I'd check.

One step ahead of you sir. The belts were done at the local Renault dealership :rasp:. Ive just had the HPI report and....

all is clear. One plate change in 07. So it looks like I'm going to visit him tomorrow. Thing is I want to px mine against it if its a good example. Am I going to get mugged off?

I'm not bothered tbh. I d rather it go to a member. I won't be going for it unless I get a good price against my car because it has to last me a few years and miles is very important.
