Trophy turinis on a 172 cup

  Ollie's Silver Cup
I've had a search through the forum and read numerous topics and posts about the offsets of both wheels, etc :) Couldn't find any specific examples of this, so though I'd stick a thread up!

I mentioned in another thread about replacing my cup turini's with the anthracite trophy version.

It was suggested that doing so would upset the handling and the feel, because of the higher offset of the trophy turini.

If the posts I've found are correct, the cup turini is ET 38.5 and the trophy turini ET 45 ? Basically how much of a noticable effect would that 6.5mm difference in offset have on the car?

I'm assuming the trophy turinis would fit physically, with no clearance issues, etc and are the same 16x7 size? :)

I also understand that I could just have my cup turinis refurbed in anthracite, however, I have plans for those and would ideally like a second set of turinis; if there's no issues, I may as well get anthracite ones straight off :D

Cheers,
Olly

Oliver.James, the cup offset is 38.5 ET, and the trophy's are ET45. In my opinion and experience, you will upset the cars handling a little, but nothing to major, but if you have the car for the handling experience, you may notice the difference. It will be cheaper to just buy another set of cup turinis on here etc and get them refurbed in anthracite. Trophy's Turini's are very rare and tend to go for bigger money, just because of the offset. Also if you go down the ktec/speedline turinis route, there centre caps are different, and the renault caps wont fit on them, just a heads up. Speedline/ktec turinis come in ET35 and ET40 only.

Cheers for the replies; I'm currently in two-minds as of which way to go! :dapprove:

I was pretty much ready to order them, however, I'm now a little concerned that the difference in offset between the 38.5 and 45 will make a noticable difference in the way the car handles/feels :dead:

If you are going to order trophy turinis from renault, ure looking at around £170 each, without centre caps.

I've been getting prices from a few Renault dealers; best quote being £575, which I don't think's bad :)

It's more the offset issue and the fact that it's been said by a few people that the higher offset trophy version may upset the handling.

Having said all that, when cleaned up, I love how the silver turinis look!

That looks mint, silver cup as well...
If you turinis are mnt then buy some 2nd hand cup turinis and get refurbed in anthracite, when selling on in the future, they will be worth more if mint, than what you paid for them.

The turinis on it now have seen better days tbh; the two on the front have some light curbing done by a previous owner.

The two on the rear are corroding though! I knew they'd need sorting when I bought the car a couple of months ago, just didn't quite expect bits of paint to be flaking off yet! lol! :dapprove:

I would just get them refurbed, would be easier and cheaper in the long run.

Yeah that's an option too :)

When I bought the car, with it being iceberg, the plan was to get the wheels anthracite, but I'm really starting to like the silver turinis on it!

I'd like to have a couple of spare wheels at least, so I may sort a couple of cup turinis to go on the car in place of the corroded ones; then get the corroded ones refurbed once they're off the car anyway :)

Not in any rush though particularly, so can take my time deciding on what's best :D

Earlier today...A50 or M6 or M1? :D lol!

I remember seeing a few 172s/182s on my travels today :)

na sorry mate that was misleading, i meant as from earlier today there's another iceberg 172 on silver turini's. got bored of the anthracite ones and swapped for a set of silver ones. kept looking at pictures of yours and it was making me jealous lol

lol! I remember seeing an iceberg 172/182 earlier today and, seeing you have an iceberg too, assumed it was you

The more I look at the silver turinis, the more I'm thinking of staying silver :D

lol no worries!

do it!! yours looks awesome as it stands now, if you jst get them refurbed silver then they'l look even better. the silver cups are rare enough as they are, keep it standard :D

mines a kind of hybrid now, all the best bits of the FF with the looks and a few bits taken off to get it similar to cup spec. i'm happy.
