Trying to refit original springs back onto shocks..

Trying to refit some original springs back onto the original shocks on a 2005 Mk2 Ph2 1.2 16v.

However because the springs are so long and compress so much, I'm using them wind up spring compressors, but I can't get it to compress enough to get the top hat + bearing on etc. Been trying all afternoon.

Not sure what I can do?

But f**k me if I can get the spring to compress enough using them!
Even when both hooks are touching each other, its not compressed enough!

Mine have worked every time too, when fitting aftermarket springs lol! The standard springs are so ridiculously long, can't get it to compress enough.

yhh i thought that bit silly but u have pulled the shock fully up springs are not tht long on the clios ive changed a few originals

Ive used those type compressors on non sport long springs no problem, just need to put in the spring as far apart as poss.

Yea so have I. Sports are fine. 1.2 is ridiculous lol.

Now I've just gotta spend hours unwinding and winding the bloody spring clamps. Don't know why people bother with the gym. All you need is a few springs and just endlessly clamp them and unclamp them...
