Trying to remove the upper gearbox mount

Trying to remove the upper gearbox undone all the screws and it's not comin off.

What am i doin wrong, can anyone explain EXACTLY what we have to do?

have you dropped the bolts out?

You need something on the bolt underneath it, iirc you can get to it behind the wheel arch.

try rocking the engine about - it'll be trapped on the bolt - just need to disturb it and pull it off

I hit the top of the bolt with an hammer and it came loose.

Well i took the upper gearbox mount out all the screws were fine and it looks like this...............

have u got the screw off the rubber part?

iirc its splined making it hard to get out, hammer required.

that's defo had it - you can see it's deformed in the first pic. they're about £20ish from ECP/GSF

really?

I know it looks deformed there but i wouldn't of though that would of caused the problem.

So whats the point in these uprated ones then? cause aren't they made of rubber?

afaik, there are only two uprated options available at the mo - the RenaultSport Gp.N kit (£1K!!), and the Vibratechnics mounts, which are sold through KTEC. the v/t mounts are rubber, just much stiffer. i've not seen the RS mounts and don't know what they're made of (gold?)

have a look on search for opinion on the v/t mounts, as they're not going to suit everyone

i'd replace that mount; it's visibly deformed and you do appear to be getting quite a bit of movement out of it in-situ

if you've a EuroCarParts near-by, the part number's 338745140 and they are/were £13ea (just checked a receipt)

if you were local, i'd offer you one, as i've a low mileage spare

Sweet mary of judas, 1k for 2 mounts? Thats stupid regardless of them being renaultsport, i mean i have a renaultsport so why didn't they put better mounts on....

Fail on renaults behalf LOL!

I think i might just get another mount to replace as £100 for one mount is steep regardless of it being stiffer.

Thank you very much for your help and i will update you as to how everythin goes, i'm gonna replace the lower mount too as when i put my hand in the hole to feel for a nut there wasn't one. :S

You have been very helpful to me, maybe CS should let you do a proper guide on how to change upper, lower and dogbone mounts because you are very knowledgeable!

Yes i will do, they don't like people doing FAO's here.
