Tuning A 182

  Blue 182
So my 182 runs out of warranty soon what’s the best way to tweak it up a little don’t want to do to much to it, what would the difference be, would it sound better, would the fuel consumption be better or not would it be faster, or is it best to leave as it is. I’m a bit new to this, so please help ? :D

breathing and exhaust .....1st

get a panel filter and performance exhaust , have your inlets done , buy a decat ...

Hi thanks weres the best place to get a panel filter and performance exhaust , (what one), and a decat, and the best place to have inlets done and how long would that take and would that use more fuel and would i see a driffrence in power

i'd recommend -:

1. Itg panel filter (think 1 for sale in parts section)
2. inlets done form angel works (give benR a pm or email of here)
3. exhaust ....ur spoilt for choices on that one ....Yozzasport , prospeed and many more
4. decat from the same place as exhausts

looking for about 10-15bhp increase imo , possibly

Hello mate, where abouts in pompey are you? I'm just up the road in waterlooville.
There is a wicked little garage called Rentech down by the incinerator/pc world which is good for fitting parts, advice, servicing etc
They have a profile on here and the owner(mike) has a clio that is engine modded up to the eyeballs. I'd give them a try.

There are several 'tuning' companies on here, the best thing is to discuss with them your requirements and get some idea of costs. Most companies will happy to do this, but a few aren't as forthcoming when it comes to actually getting the work done. As regards actually tuning your 182, you'll find you won't get much improvement as the engine is already tuned to 90bhp per litre anyway which is quite high for a production road car. Filters and exhaust will improve the drive a bit, but ultimately you'll need to spend ££££ to get over 10bhp of gains.

Well....

Started with a decent 172 which was making 175bhp peak power, so I had a head start anyway. The list of parts is:

K&N Panel filter - the standard intake system is perfect so why mess with it
GDI Fast road cam- nothing wild, but a bit more duration than standard
GDI Remap
GDI Cat back exhuast (currently development only)
Ported and polished inlet manifold.

Full write up to come.
