Tuning Articles - Maxing it up

This one sheds much light on the RamAir debate. Its not specifically aimed at cars but the same principles apply !

It gives some flesh on bones as to why airboxes seem to give good results - e.g. Viper/BMC/etc

If you want a good source of Cold Air (not ram air) then this might come in handy:

Ive started reading up on LAMBDA (oxygen sensor) tuning and although this seems a bit way out it might be possible to get some results.

What im reading is engine management systems run closed loop and open loop. Closed loop is where the ECU adjust fuelling based on the readings it gets from the LAMBDA sensors. Open loop is where the ECU uses a built in map to adjust fuelling typically at WOT (Wide Open Throttle). This is why if youve got mods. on your car and you are having a chip done you ideally want to get a remap done - like Roamer has had.

Take a look at this article to understand how it is possible to change the LAMBDA sensors for performance.

Then this guy has an Air/Fuel ratio LED in his car showing the reading.

Started looking at this stuff coz my lambda light is perm. on and need to try and understand why.

According to my service history, the Lambda sensor on my 16v went at 18k miles! Looks like the poor bloke who had the car originally was just out of warranty too - 1 year back in 1994.
