Turbo’d Clio Owners....

Out of interest, what does everyone pay for insurance (assuming youve told them about the mods!)?

Particularly interested in the 16v turbo insurance cost...

:D

Liverpool Victoria and Frizell wont chage you for mods like that unless they change the cc of the car

As long as your keeping the same crank and piston width your ok.

right. r their qoutes competitive then?
Well it will depends me and my mate at work are insured with them as there are the cheapest Tesco wanted £10 more at £890 for me but eveyone else wanted £950+ to insure me.

Some people will find them to be uncompetitive but in general they are very good and as they dont charge for mods which helps they need a photos of the mods every few months though sometime my mate doesnt but some other highly modified cars with garenteed values do. My mate had a crash in his car (modified corsa) and they were quite good and repaired like with like (lowered suspension +alloys + side skirts) but they were a bit difficult about a courtesy car for him even though they garentee one as his car needed to be looked at by an assessor to deterim if it should be written off however this took 2 weeks which is abit much IMO.

HIC seem to very competive especially with people who would be charged a fortune ie young 172/16V owners but Ive heard a few people say they are difficult paying out etc. Same goes for may other specialist companies and Direct line have a terriable reputation especially as there a big firm.

99% sure.

They dont charge for engine mods so long as they know about them and no change in CC (NOS is a question though) if you understand about turboing cars youll know that turboes dont mean change in engine cc even if you lower compression ratio so your ok.

Sometime you have to pay a modification allowance though of ~£40 which means you can do this any mods thing I guess this is if you ask for mods to be added at a later day and they need to do paperwork updates etc. They are going to start questioning it more I heard they were thinking about demanding engineers reports on hard conversions ie T/B, head work, turbos or transplates but nothing for definate

wot?? if u turbo a car the cc stays the same?? doesnt it double it?? (;))

if they want an engineers report on the likes of turbocharging, then its likely they will up the premium when they find out torque is doubled!!

Arr you know what ur on about then

If they do this it wont be difficult getting an engineer to write a report up it will just have to say the engine has been installed safly etc.

If they do Im availiable to sign certificates for £100 a time or £50 for Cliosport members:D
