can someone explain to me how a turbo works, what it does exactly ?

It pushes more air and fuel into the engine > more power. To achieve this there is a fan powerered by the exhaust gasses that the engine produces - hence the power for the fan (turbo) is free. Im sure someone can give a better explanation though.
