Turning off Auto Wipers on the 200?

How can I do it?

I want them off, completely off.

The rear one keeps smearing the dirt on the back window when I put the car in reverse and it hacks me off.

Also, the front windscreen wipers start going at the speed of light when there's a light drizzle and only on setting one.

You can't completely turn them off iirc, although the rear one only come on with reverse if it's on the first notch down. (auto setting)

If you flick the stork completely up, the rear won't come on with reverse.

Edit : Ignore all that, didn't realise you had a 200, I know sod all about their settings.

Mine does the same in reverse, someone correct me if i'm wrong but Clio's have always wiped the rear window when put in reverse... It annoys me too!

The speed of the wipers when they come i think is set by the ring on the wiper stalk turn it down to the smallest drop... failing this I'm stumped.

Check the manual too.

If you have the car turned off and wiper stalk at the very top settings, if you then reverse without changing it the rear wiper won't turn - or at least I found that.

The moment you change the wiper stalk it will do it - whether it be auto, full etc.

Thanks for the inputs guys! I'd like to be able to adjust the front wipers though.

The only way to ditch the auto wipers is to reconfigure the UCH and disconnect the rain sensor. Then it will work in a traditional way.

Unfortunately all Renaults since '98 (Megane I) have had auto rear wipe in reverse when the front wipers are on and there is no way to disable this other than unplugging the rear motor.

Sorry mate, its one of those days... just giving everyone bad news today LoL

Got a Megane II back in that had a starting problem due to a corruption on the Can-Net processor and as the cost of fixing or replacing for new was seriously stupid we told him to buy a second hand setup. He did this and has obviously bought one that has a faulty UCH so now it won't open the boot... apparently thats my fault!

Just disconnect the rear wiper motor, I too got annoyed with it wiping and smudging my rear screen. Or do what others have said, before you select reverse push the stalk back up.

Im guessing your wipers only stay off if you turn the car off with them in auto mode. Like older Clios etc.

lol, I use the rear view mirror so keep the back window clean all the time!
