TV install - day by day

For those that are interested, just thought Id do a pic diary of my tv install in the car. Will be putting it in the usual place, the center console. Got my screen the other day and my aerial arrived this morning.

Tomorrow will be ripping out the center console, taking a quick mould off it, making a quick pattern from the mould for the install before making the master mould. Pics to follow tomorrow...

So the fibreglass mould can be released from the console without damaging it. So when it comes to gettin rid of the car, can just put the original console back in

have you got a better pic of it in the car?

i cant understand where you have put it.

can you answer these fore me?

is it a lastest shape clio?

have you still got the air vents?

is it a flip out in place of where the clock was originaly?

Will try to get a better pic tomorrow. My cam doesnt have a flash and with it being dark in the factory today, the pic didnt come out good.

Its the latest shape clio. The TV is sat above the heaters/air vents so I can still use them if needed. The screen flips out, but still gonna have the clock in the car. Will have the clock raised up more and set further back.

any plans to make a few of these? think you could make a penny or two, as i know i would defently have one off you.

cant wait to see better pics

Yeah, there are plans to sell them but wanting to get it perfect on my car first, get the cost of materials etc. After this ones done, Ive got to do one for a beemer too whichll be fun

Thats what i would of thought too.

Thats like saying that anyone with a sat nav screen can be fined.

Wires through the dash were easy really as Ive got an ecu for the interior lighting in my glove box, so just wired everything up from that. Theres a big hole at the side that you can shove wires through, once youve got the top of the center console off.

And yeah, should imagine Id get a fine if I got caught watching it, afterall Id be watching tv without a tv licence. Dont even think you can get a licence for a car, can you?

Im off to make the temp. mould now

You only need a TV lisence if it is physically connected to the mains, otherwise it counts as a portable device.

Mate at uni has a TV card in his laptop, unplugs it ever tiem he charges the thing up to get around the law ;-)

erm no lunner thats not the case

Do I need a licence?

-
If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one.

aye..stupid, i only stumbled across it the other day...didnt know anything about it!

naturally if its off whilst hes driving then it wouldnt be a prob, but if he has a passenger and its on then the tv has to be angled away from his line of vision,,,.. i dont imagine that this would ever be enforced :)

ill get the proper definaition when i get to work tonight...lol

hmm i might invest i a fibre glass kit, good work mate
