You have just confirmed my suspicions Roy. I have thought about getting a space saver or a steelie from somewhere for sometime. Always thought that the foam would be pants!!

The foam is only a temporary measure until you can get to the nearest tyre place. Must end up costing a fortune in new tyres.

Fook that, I'd carry a spare so that the puncture can be repaired.

Roy you are right, i went through two foam cans on one tyre and still had to get a steely from a garage (delivered to the roadside by the mother in law! )and put that on, plus the cost of a whole new tyre too when i got home. waste of time!

The can put the pressure up to 25, then went petrol st and put it up to 30 and stopped like that for aggeessss!

Well, I got the wheel to a tyre place, they pumped it up and couldn't find a leak. Sprayed the old soapy water over every inch including the rim, sidewalls and valve. So in other words some fricker let it down and even put the valve cap back on. I do wonder if the tyre foam sealed the puncture though perhaps? It certainly didnt manage to put any fookin' air in the tyre though so I doubt it.

Roy, if the foam is under pressure and there was no leak between the valve and the nozzle, how would pressure in the tyre not increase :S?

Ive got some from when I struggled to get to my spare due to a boot build, guess I should just leave the wheel in the car still though!

get a 172 then you can carry a spare wheel without sacrificing boot space

Apparently the average motorist will get a flat tyre less than once every 10 years so I heard last week.

I have had 2, both nails in the tyre and neither needed foam, just pumped them up and had them repaired, i even drove on 8psi for ages without realising it at the rear as the tyres are so strong on the sidewalls.

bes thing to do roy is carry a pump around with you and next time pump the tyre up first and chances are that it will either stay up or be a very slow puncture and will be ok to drive to get it repaired.

On the 182, the only time i wouldn't drive on it is if i had a blowout and then you have more things to worry about.

DOn't see a need for the foam really.

this might sound a daft question but ive got a nail in each back tyre. can i get them taken out and repaired. otherwise im going tohave to get 4 tyres (fronts are very low) cheers

as long as the nail in on the bit touching the road and not the side wall the are repairable, i've have a nial in both rear tyres now, think i paid about £20 for a repair.

I've used the foam twice now and its worked fine both times, first time it happened I forgot about it and was doing over 100 on it :quiet:
