Tyres On A Williams HELP

I know this question must of come up before, so I will make it quick.

2 tyres 185/55/15 = £100
4 Tyres 195/50/15 = £140

What differance will it make fitting wide tyres and a slighty lower profile.
Any help would be grateful

Dave

depends

some tyres use stiffer sidewalls so a 185 could be as stiff there as the 195.

i have pirelli 195/50/15s on the front of mine.............they replaced michelin pilot 185/55/15s

teh michs are loads better.........slight tramlinin in the 195s none in the 185s also the michs felt able to handle the bumps a little better, this could be because of the softer sidewall

I found 195s made me slower on the very uneven back roads but quicker on the smoother roads.

Its feels better but harsher with my 195s which are Toyos.

My 185s were the oringinal Michies.

Got 185/55s T1-S on my Willy, would think again mate now that the winter weather is coming.

These tyres are crap in wet weather.

Cheaper firstly.

secondly 185 tyres arent being developed in the performance area in taht size anymore so they are old technology.

Basically id rather buy a set instead of 2.

Handling diffs in real word are minimal for the average driver on the rd.

cant comment on the toyos as iv neva ad em

but iv heard they have a softish sidewall so shud be ok in a 50 profile

Exaltos were developed using a williams in that size.

sorry mate but i wouldnt really class nyself as an above average driver..............well maybe slightly lol

but i can definately tell the difrences between the 2 dif tyres on my evry week thrashin roads, uneven surfaces are a nitemare with the 195s......feels too skittish.....fantistic on the smoother roads tho

Thanks for every bodys help.
Will get a set of 4 195/50/15s rather than spend the earth for two 185/55/15s.

While I am here, should the clutch pedel really be that stiff. Fells like my old AP 4 paddle I had in a perious car.

Thanks Dave

lol

welcome to clio ownership hehe

mines developed a rather annoying will it wont it work trik at the mo....needs a new adj mech

In the defence of the 185 width tyres, Id say that although they roll a bit more, they will grip a little better on rough roads and will have a less crashy ride.

I run Bridgestone Potenza SO-3 195/5/R15s on mine.

Only thing i found hard was setting the tyre pressures, to give a little dampening over the bumps. Dont worry about the clutch - your leg will get used to it. But there is a soft pedal conversion avaliable if you dont !

BB £52 the last time i looked. But i dont know anyone who has had the conversion done.

Anyone tried 195/45s I had them on my old saxo and at the time I thought they were good, but the 195/50 Toyos Ive got seem to be as good if not better. Any differences ?

Ive got 185/55/15 Goodyear Eagle F1s on the front of my Williams 2, and same size Michelin Energy (DONT ask lol) on the back. Main reason I chose that size is cos its factory, and didnt wanna change it.

Ive had 195/45/15 on a Mk3 Fiesta... Firstly Ventus, then changed the front to Eagle F1. MUCH better on Eagle F1. but still tramlined. Got 205/40/17 Toyo Proxes on there now

Ive got yokohama AVS Sport 195/50/15s on mine and i think there bloody great, dry or wet i havent had any problems with them..

i get sum slight tramlining but i still think there great :)
