Uh-Oh !! Urgent help required

  Clio 1.5dci
Hey I've been fitting a head unit to my car, and testing it out with various devices to get it to read mp3s.

Now I come to start the engine and I hear lots of clicking! :( I've unplugged the head unit, I'm concerned that I may have drained the battery??

Funny thing is I've only spent an hour in the car fiddling around with this, I'm suprised the battery has already died?

Any thoughts?

Have a look at your immobiliser fuse on the passenger side of the dash. You may have caused it to blow when fitting the headunit. Ive done it before

Have u checked your fuses.. not sure might of blown one could always try starting car with some jump leads or charge the battery after checking the voltage

I don't know anyone with jump leads, nor do I have a voltmeter.

The fuses all look fine, I did pop the wipers on and they were slow, getting slower - indicative of a dying battery?

Time to call AA?

I've got no one around here :( my mates live far away.

I'll see what AA say, what kind of charge etc..

Cheers guys, I've called out the AA it cost me some.. had to change to home start and change the car that was on the membership having just recently bought clio :( oh well..

Why didnt you just go buy a set of jump leads for less than £20 lol!

That sounds nice in theory, I guess fuel stations sell them? as Halfords would be closed, then I have no one to do it with :(

Nevermind :) my worry and impatience got the better of me

I hooked up an external usb hard drive to my alpine x305, might this cause too much of a drain on the battery?

the hard drive wont be draining it. Sounds like you probably need a new battery if its drains too quickly when the engine isn't running. I've had it before where if only had the hazards on for 5 mins and my battery went dead.

Ah ok, then it's fine.

I believe the battery only died because I spent an hour trying to get the ipod hooked up, and then tried the psp and usb hard drive. Trying to get the stalk controls working, all the while the sat nav unit and climate control are on.

As the AA guy says it's only a small battery.. :)
