Fabricated inlet manifold, 4-2-1 long primary design header, big valve head, medium duration high torque cams, forged pistons and steel rods, 12.5:1 CR........nothing too special, just a strong 2ltr which can hold some decent rpm and hit 200-220bhp and loads of torque.
2ltrs cant make the power cause they cant hold the rpm with any decent sort of day to day reliability.
Optimise the engine and you can make alot more power, but nobody really wants to splash out on a bottom end that isnt full of manufacturing compramises.
Doesnt even have to be that cammy, but you need to be able to build an engine that can make use of the cam before hitting a limiter whilst still building power.
