understanding an MOT emissions print out

  Clio 1.4 RT
Hi All ;)
My T reg 1.4 petrol passed its MOT i was just wondering if the emissions was any good??
CO: < 0.20%vol
0.01%vol PASS
HC: < 200ppm vol
7ppm vol PASS
some other numbers lol
0.970-1.030
0.999 PASS

Why are you bothered if the emissions are good if it passed? Serious question!

And the top number is the margins, the bottom number is what it actually is. E.g: CO has to be below 0.2% and yours was 0.01%... so is within limits.

Ps. the bottom number is the lambda values

We of course a pass is good!

CO is measuring how efficiently the cat changes the CO from incomplete combustion into C02 (your cat is working correctly)

HC (hydrocarbons, what petrol is mad up of) is unburnt fuel in parts per million, 7 is showing you have a good ignition system, no misfires and it's running efficiently.

Lambda is oxygen however I'm not hot on that :)

Yes that's all good! Perfect lambda is 1, your 0.999!

If it passes they are good! 7 parts per million Hyrdocarbons is good your allowed up to 200,

and your CO2 has to be below 0.20, 0.01 is very low!

For a T reg clio couldn't really ask for better
