uneven tyre wear

  Audi TT 3.2 V6
Hi,

Just been out to bleed my brakes and during bleeding i noticed that my front passenger side tyre is wearing unevenly, the innder edge is not far of the wear markers were as the outer edge is all fine and dandy. The drivers side tyre is also fine with no uneven wear at all.

Is it just a simple job of getting the tracking done? (although tracking seems fine to me)or is it likely to start costing me mega money?

The car is a focus st170 btw not a clio, but with this sort of thing im pretty sure its more of a general thing rather than specific to the car

Cheers, Russ

The ST has some pretty funky suspension up front if the car isnt lowered i guess somthing is worn like a ball joint or such.

cars suspension is completely standard, how do i tell if the ball joints gone? anything to look for in particular?

Good news....Just been to a garage, problem was diagnosed as tracking, as under closer inspection the drivers side tyre was also wearing unevenly, although wasn’t as noticeable due to there being more tread on the tyre in the first place.

So 4 wheel laser alignment done which will have hopefully cured the problem. Bad news is I need at least 1 new front tyre, also due 2 rear tyres soon so might replace all 4 and keep the one decent front tyre as a spare. Also need new disks and pads all round as well...bloody typical lol

Finally my car also used to have a whining sound when doing between 50 and 70 more noticeable on a smooth road surface...that’s now also near enough gone after having the tracking done so 2 birds 1 stone n all that.

Thanks for all your help and advice :)
