Unichip - Rolling Road (+ vids!)

  Clio 172 Ph2

Just thought some of you might be interested to see Millway Vehicle Specialists in action ;)

They fitted my unichip today. I started with a lucky 178 and left with welcomed 188 :D (I left the viper off btw because it made the car slower!)

The car feels great now and I recommend you all go down there and have yours done! It was a 120 mile trip down there, but well worth it!

Heres a couple of AVIs for you to look at.

1. Purely for the sound - thats when I had the viper on for testing - ROAR! Shows you the kit they use down there and that. (900KB)

(Oh and yes that is 4th gear 20mph -> 110mph = cut out!)

2. Standard car except for the Magnex twin 3.5" exhaust. (1.78MB)

Below is a pic of the chip being fitted.

nice work. I had mine fitted at Owen developments, but Im off to Millways in 10 days time to have a remap after some mods, as Owens couldnt book me in. Sounds like youre happy with Millways. Who did the mapping?

Oh by the way, do you know what the external temperature was when you ran the test? is their cooling system any good?

RB, where do they actually mount the Unichip and where do they wire it into the ECU loom. Interested as Im going to get mine done when the new Dastek UK retail premises opens up in Scotland in July. Do you have any closeup pictures of the install.

Good RR result BTW. Im running the K&N as youve seen inthe other thread and a 3.5" Magnex also!:).

Pity you left your Viper off. Im sure someone on here (Craigy172?) was running a zorst and Viper and managed 197 bhp @ fly! However you need to get cold air up to it for it to work well.

Is it just me or does your bhp look a little low on the meter.. shouldnt you be up nearer 150 ? or did I miss something.

Where about is that going to be Flying Scotsman?

The one with the viper only hit 170 I think, possibly lower. That was before the remap.

Ive stuck the viper on again for a laugh and have just been for a drive.....all I can say is jesus christ!!!!! Im on my 3rd pair of pants already. Not sure if its any different than without the viper (didnt really do much short burst driving) but it sure sounds nice and you really have to hold on tight!

I noticed the performance impact when I fitted all my stereo stuff (its like having another person in the boot) but now that is gone and it just never stops pulling.

@philip,
hmm cant really remember sorry! It was a nice refreshing blast though! I certainly didnt see any compaints from the dashboard instruments though.
The guy even said that owen have been sending people his way because they have too much on at the moment...I take that as a good sign - ie. they have faith in them!

@Flying Scotsman,
They just unplug the cables from the ecu, remove the hoods and piggy back a few of the wires before replacing the hoods and plugging it all back in.
The actual unit sits directly behind the big metal cage that the other one is sitting in.

@_KDF,
Ive no idea about the bph stuffs it says on the dials, all I know is that it says 188 on the printout and thats the best theyve had.

oh, not sure if it makes any difference but for some reason he did all the mapping stuff with the aircon turned on full blast at max temp. Would that effect the bhp at the wheels? (youll have to forgive me, im new to all this! ;) )

@ RB, Cheers for the info. So did they have to remove the whole ECU and frame assembly or do they just remove the curved section above the ECU? Looks like the later from the picture above. Either way will probably have to remove my strut brace to allow access. The run was probably done with the aircon on to give you a "normal" result and at full heat to try and remove heat from the engine during the run!

@ C The J, They are opening a new retail premises in Dalgety Bay. They were formally Storm Engineering from Thornton. Its scheduled to open 1st July.

nah, its fine mate....who cares about numbers, if it feels better your fine, if its just as fast or faster than other 172s your fine....peopl jsut like BIG numbers.
