Uniroyal tyres

OK so I bought a 197 cup 6months ago with these tyres already on, there Uniroyal low profile with the writing 'the rain tyre' on the rim. These are the worst tyres iv ever come across, the slightest bit of moisture on the road and they slide around like nothing else, useless and dangerous. Can't wait to get some perellis on as they were awesome on my 182. Anyone else noticed how bad these tyres are or just me?

Quite a lot of folk rave about them. Never tried them myself and probably won't try them either. Prefer another brand.

got three's on mine and i've driven it like a hire car in the wet and they are fine.

Honestly there herrendous , the car just snakes about under braking in the wet and the rear loves to step out on corners that my 182 would get around with ease. Tbh I'd never even heard of them before I bought this car

Are they the " Rainsports " or the Budget " Rain Experts ? " I've had Rainsport 2's , currently running Rainsport 3's on my 182 and I really rate them , especially on wet roads . I've just got home now , driving on wet roads and they easily handle wet roads/ bends no problem when pushing on . I did find with the Rainsport 2's when you get down to about 3mm of tread they lost alot of performance in the wet though .

Don't get me wrong, on a dry road I can't fault them, they grip really well, but like I said in the wet they just don't inspire confidence at all. It may even be my car that's causing the problems but my opinion is that its these tyres since it handles fine in the dry?

I actually don't know, all it says on the side is the rain tyre lol they are getting fair low too though so that won't be helping

Tbh though , most tyres should grip the road well in the dry , It's wet roads where tyres like the Rainsport 3's are designed to come into their own .

Ahhh right . There probably lies the answer to your problem if they're getting low , the ones Ive just had taken off were crap in the wet because they were very low . It's like a different car now with the new Rainsport 3's on . You'll have to have a look what else it says on the tyre . Rainsport or Rain Expert .

Get your rear shocks checked...as its a known thing with RenaultSport's that when the rear shock fails...they tend to squirm...just in case.

I really rate the 3's in the wet, they lean a bit in the dry tho.

I was actually looking to get 4 uniroyal rainsport 3s. £265 (205/45/16) all in. Scotland isn't the driest so thought they would be a sound investment! Heard they were really good though so this is concerning :-/

I live in the North West of England , It rains a lot here and i wouldn't use any other tyre now than the Rainsports . They do feel quite strange to begin with and need a couple of hundred miles under their belt to scrub in , but when they do they are a fantastic tyre for gripping in the wet .

I was going to go for michelin but they are nearly 100 quid more plus don't know if they would be as good in the wet! But more similar in the dry

I'd recommend the extra for the Michelins. Rain sport 2 that I had are terrible soft sidewalled tyres that, whilst being ok with longitudinal forces, are absolutely dire laterally. They just buckle under themselves while cornering.

The dry grip on the michelins will outshine the rainsports probably but from what I hear not a great deal. But will the rain sports outshine the michelin in the wet? Probably quite a bit (I assume). I can't believe rainsports are the price they are for the reviews they get...

I know what you mean, and I fell for it too. How can you go wrong for that price you're thinking.... They got a little better when the tread wore down but with the thin blocks and soft sidewalls they are terrible laterally. When you feel the weight next to Michelins you realise why they are cheaper.

Dry - Accel and brake, not much in it. Laterally Michelins are much much better and steering feel is hugely improved with it. Whole car feels more responsive and planted.

Wet - Exactly the same as dry (honestly) apart from, I GUESS, aquaplane performance where the tread pattern should clear water better on the rainsports.

I'd like to hear other people reports, especially anyone who's tracked their car.

I unfortunately put 4 Rainsport2's on my 182 last summer.
Worst decision I have made whilst owning a car.

Totally totally ruined the handling of the car compared to the Pilot Exalto2's.
Steering feel when 'slaloming' on a twisty road where there are multiple fast direction changes, the wheels don't feel connected to the car.

Ive had the tracking checked twice since and its spot on.
I just don't get on with them at all.
