universal air filter

alright guys, i have been out and borowed a universal air filter from my mate, and hes is convinced that the air filter will fit my car! however i have gone to fit it 2day and it doesnt wanna fit anyway, i have removed the old air filter and tried fitting it, also i tried to fit it to the pipes froming off the air filter andit doesnt fit!, the car is a mk1 clio 1.4RT 1994, and a pic of the air filter is shown below and a pic of the engine just incase it helps!, does anyone have any idea if it will fit or not. doesnt really matter if it doesnt because i didnt pay anything for it! but it would be better if there was a way i could get it to fit,
cheers, caine

you'll need to remove your standard airbox and mount it on top of the inlet pipe.

ideally you would get a new inlet pipe without the air reservoir.

i removed the air box and then the breather pipe and filter ect so it was just the carb and then tried to mount it on that but the carb is too big and not really sure how to do it! any more help? lol

what size is the bottom of the air filter?

you can get reducer pipes for it. why not get one specifically for yer car tho?

it depends where i put it tho, if i put it straight on the carb im going to need bigger pipes! coz its too small to fit over the carb but if im going to put it on with the other pipes then im going to need downsizers, the reason i aint got a filter specifically for my car coz im only borrowing this one to see if it would actually fit and if it does i might buy it, but as it looks like its not going to then i think he can have it back!

i just been out and had another go, yes this late lol and i really cant get it to go on!, i tried everything, its just not gonna happen :(

if it doesnt fit properly, it would probably be a waste of time having it on the car in the first place.

You'd be better off, buying a specific kit for your car.
