Returning my car back to normal this weekend, do i need spring compressors to do it? Thinking of making a guide for everyone if it goes well?

Nope, no need for spring compressors on a sport model.

Are you sure? I would have said if your taking the spings off the shocks and putting original springs back on then you will need the compressors otherwise the springs are gunna do some damage when you release then :rasp:

Might be wrong though, maybe the sports are different.....

I'm sure! (2 sets on my 172 and 3 different sets on my 182 i should know by now!) if you dont beleive me I'm sure fred will be along in a mo and confirm! ;)

Am i right in thinking the rear end is easy, but the fronts, do i undue the bolts in the engine bay, then the shocks drop down, then springs just slide off the top?

Rear is a piece of piss i did one side at a time to save the rear beam dropping right down. Front you need to loosen the top mounts under the bonnet, then jack the car up get the wheels off and undo the strut to stub axle bolts, remove the assembly from the wheelarch and then take it all apart, replace the spring with the OE one, put it all back together again and refit onto the car.

The only difficult part if your doing it on your own is levering down the wishbones whilst trying to put in/take out the strut.

I looked like I was playing twister doing mine!

One foot on a long bar levering the suspension down, one foot trying to keep me from falling over, and both hands trying to get the old strut out! Argh! lol
