Up or down, which way to lower

Car  Not a 320d
OK probz a thick question here, but do i need to spin this thing up or down to go lower.

Oh and YES i will be cleaning the threads, toothbrush at the ready.
 
huh, is that the rear? i though the adjuster should be at the bottom of the spring, not the top!?

Different for different coilovers.

Billstein use them on the top iirc, where as my V-Maxx are on the bottom.

From that photo i assume its the rear, so wind them up for lower. On the front you would wind them down for lower. And if they were on the bottom of the spring on the rear, you would also wind them down.
