Uprated leads off ebay - yes or no?

Car  PB 172 phase 2
Hi, all. I have a PB phase 2 172. I bought new uprated 8mm leads off ebay, a new coil pack and platinum sparks - Question is I think the car is running reasonably okay, so should I replace old with new regardless of faults or damage or should I keep them and wait to see if they are needed?
If it aint broke don't fix it kinda thing?

Yeah, go for it. I didnt need new leads, coilpack or spark plugs but changed all of them anyway and the idle is a lot smoother, it pulls more smoothly. keep the old ones as you will need them at some stage to diagnose running problems.

Got no receipts to confirm they been changed at all and 108 now on the clock.
You will definitely feel the difference, I would however join up to CS and you will then be able to get the guide on how to change the spark plugs etc and do it yourself. Easy enough to do.

What brand are the coil pack and leads?

With coil packs anything but an OE brand seems to be hit and miss IME and somethings terrible on older stuff ; misfiring under load at 3k anyone . Leads are very so so IME unless Beru or genuine parts ; I had many issues on my old Mondeo and 'Magnecor leads'. With the Ford ones I have never had an issue.

How do I join? If this is not already joined?

I bought the coil pack off renparts on ebay. And the uprated 8mm red leads off ebay, don't know the brand?

I've never known an aftermarket lead out perform a genuine standard lead on any car..

Mothers Clio182 has never had a new lead since she got it new..

Perhaps these are different colour, but what's wrong with black? It goes with everything.

Its not about what colour they are. Are you suggesting to just change the spark plugs?

Yep, just jog on the plugs at service time...

Years ago I would keep more spares, replace working parts with new and keep the old..

Now I keep my money and let Renault store the parts until i need them..

What car.crash said. On my dad's Mondeo the original leads started to play up at 180k. Sure they may have started going before then but I bet an aftermarket lead would never have lasted as long (I have rarely seen them do more than 30K)!
