Urgent Advice Please!!

Just been out tring for the land speed record when my Cup started shackn like mad over a ton. Keep the foot down and by 120 I had to lift off. Down to 70 - no prob, back to a ton and the sh1t starts again.

The only thing that has happened to the car in the last week is that it has been into get 4 tyres on. I suspected that they were on the wrong way round at first, but after a quick check at a 24hr all were on the right way!?

Any sugestions? Wheel nuts will need to be checked in the morning I think.

Balancing maybe? Worst case scenario = egg shaped tyres! But then theyd do it all the time, so Im actually talking b****cks... ;)

One thing I did learn from my (joyous) work experience at a tyre place is that you should only ever put wieghts on one point on a wheel - i.e. dont tap 20g on here, spin it up and then tap 5g on a third of the way round from there etc...

And I hope youre using stick on weights!! :D

Yip all stuck on. Cant really see them in the dark, but surley if the balance was out you would normally notice the shudder around 60 - 65? Thats what my past experience has proved anyway?

I have had this before.....one new tyres when they are balanced, the balance can be out after driving say for 100 - 200 miles.... go back and have them rebalanced because the tyres have settled on the rims now and have them redone.

The wobble will go away...my 172 is rock steady at 140mph+ on private roads

Yip so was mine rock solid at the shift light in 5th no probs. Its since (only last week), when the new rubber was put - and to honest I havent been up to 3 figs since I got it done.

I have had this very problem before with a previous car.

What happened was the tyres settled on the rims after 100 - 200 miles....this sent the balancing out.

Went back and had the wheels re-balanced and the problem went away.
