after just checking my mails (Im on my hols) Ive got a message from reg vardy who currently wont release my car due to the michelin tyre recall situation. this recall has come from france . RENO UK apparently have no info about it, but RENo france are off till Jan 5th.. to cut to the chase, vardys have said that 99% of 172s this last year already have contis fitted, it seems its only imports that might have michelins (I dont know if this is true) and it seems that your import broker probably wont ring you up and tell you youve got a potential tyre problem, so any one with a recent 172 on michelins I would strongly advise getting your local dealer to put your chassis number thru the computer and see what it comes up with...

hi, literally just after typing the last mail, Ive got a message from my dealer saying that RENo uk have authorised replacement tyres without hearing from RENO france, this to me suggests that there is a definite problem with the michelins rather than just a MAYBE, so be warned... and at the end of the day, its a free set of tyres.. so its not all bad news... shame its contis though as my michelins were superb and showed absolutely no wear at 5000 miles!!!!

You know it.. I am currently hammering the last 2 contis on my car so they will wear down quickly and I can get em replaced with the same as whats on the back 2 wheels.. (uniroyal rainsports)

Is it just 172s affected or does it apply to us lowly dynamiques too? My new one and my old one both had michelins and they dont exactly install confidence at any speed, especially in the wet!
