Urgent - exhaust / cat blow.............

............and now car sounds like a scooby and stinks!

Any ideas what has happened?

Cat gone I take it!?

Car is sat in work car park and need it to get home!

Another thing - exhaust has also sounded like it has been rattling / scratchy for a few months and got worse (thought it was the heatshield )

Now have engine warning light on intermittantly so getting towed home...............

If its blowing its more likely from the cat join, could be the front or rear, Mine blew from the rear first.. fixed that then thefront whent so i bought a new cat and been fine still, The light is on the dash prob due to incorrect readings from the lamba sensor so with a new cat hopefully you will be ok.. If it smells eggy then its the cat

Went to local exhaust centre and it was a hanger on the exhaust which had gone hence needed welding.

After welding still has a blow so taken it to Kwik Fit and they said the welding is not 100% done

Will have to try and delete the warning light too........

Warning light was due to one of the HT leads not being connected properly (i hope) and after leads fitted correctly it runs fine.

Can I try ecu reset or do i have to get a reader to delete this?

if its the standard exhaust they tend to rust and the joins are crap. Strange for the warning light to come on for a blowing exhaust. Could your lambda not be on the way out?

No the warning light was down to a loose HT lead and that caused the misfire.

Exhaust problem another one on my list!

Have found an old receipt from Longlife which says.......

Fabricate and fit Longlife custom exhaust rear silencer section to vehicle...........

Assume this is just the backbox?

Hi guys ive just bought a clio sport 172 and realised ive been done on the price considering the condition its actually in , 1st of all its occasionally blowing white smoke out the exhaust which ive been advised is just rubber seals in the exhaust or manifold and is normal for car its age on 02 plate. I think its got electrical issues as all sorts of lights come on in the dash when i accelalerate hard also xenon light on drivers side does not work, also rattling from drivers side front wheel, rear end of the car feels very unstable when cornering on bumpy roads and my temp gauge is all over the place like a rev counter but this only started today any ideas???? please help!!!!

I had the same problem of the temperature gauge going up and down this was down to a faulty temperature sensor as soon as a new one was fitted it has been fine I got a second hand one fitted for around 40 quid.

hi bud aint seen you around for a while, what u describe as sounding like a scoob and smelling like egg is most prob it misfiring. my 1.2 clio did this, bought a new coil and was all sorted, other things to check tho are the plugs, leads. hope you get it sorted bud !
