URGENT Help.. Accel Prob..

Just had the AA out because i had a very interesting problem, i wasn't miles away from home, but he put some extra fuel in and escorted me home to make sure car was ok...

For all your genius' out there this is the problem, can you diagnose it?

Just driving along and shift from fourth to third to go through some lights and then all of a sudden pressing accelerator pedal is slowing car down, letting it off the car speeds up but only to a certain point.....

Shift out of gear and the car idles at 3k revs?!?!?! On pressing pedal they drop?!?!? AND THEN... the freaking thing cuts out!!!

It then won't start, i finally get it started and it does it again, i try just giving it some in a car park near by to try to flush everything through but no joy....

And... if i got the car started and turned it off, it would start again, but if it died it would not start for love nor money!!!

AA man thought accel was not a cable, i told him it was... wasn't happy when he was wrong :D (thanks clio sport)

Anyway i was low on petrol which i thought would not be helping so paid the fiver to have some put in, and after putting some fuel in it seemed ok, and he followed me home and the car seemed much better, but i dont want this to happen once again!!!

Could it be lack of fuel????

All help appreciated!!! :D:D

Any mods?

Sounds like fuel starvation, put more fuel in that £5.

Cambelt and water pump changed
Head gasket blew so had to be fixed

Erm i think thats it!

Cheers for super fast response :D

Also, fuel starvation causing it to rev at like 3k when doing nothing?

Erm well, clutch plate had worn all the way back to the rivets and these had scored lines in the flywheel (i was driving it with a knackard clutch for ever because i'm a poor student) had to have it repaired by the same people who skimmed the head. What would i be advised to do with said air leak fred??

By the way this is what had happened to the flywheel...

check the brake servo pipe coming off the back of the plenham (the bit with renault sport on it)

and also the gaskets joining the plenham to the inlet manifold and the rubber O ring underneath it

Oh one last thing, WHAT THE F**K is with losing revs when pressing the accel???!??!?

Give the throttle body a clean aswell while your at it - I dont know if the 1.2 has a separte Idle control valve

Ah ok, well i'm driving it in a minute (first day back at uni so gotta) if it dies on the way then i'll do the suggested but if not i'll put it down to some freaky lack of fuel incident! :boring:
