Urgent help needed please - Cup delivery

Hi folks,

Ordered my new Clio Cup from my local dealer on 15th May (4 weeks ago) and was told that there was a car built and it was at the Import Centre. I got a delivery date to my dealer of Wednesday 28th May. Everything fine so far. :)

28th May came, and I heard nothing so I chased them up. The car had not arrived from the import centre and would be delayed. New delivery date of Monday 9th June (yesterday). Not happy, but I suppose these things happen :(

Heard nothing yesterday, so I chased them up again. The sales guy didnt ring me back after I left him a message. Getting annoyed now

Rang up this morning and spoke to the sales manager. He tells me that the Clio Cups leave the factory without the alarm/immobilisers and that they are fitted at the import centre. My car didnt arrive yesterday and he doesnt have an updated delivery date yet.

Is he telling me a load of crap, or is this how Renault work? Ive just about had enough now and Im thinking of getting a Cup from elsewhere. Can someone confirm this is truth, or am I getting fobbed off? Has anyone else had this problem?????????

Listen Mate,

Sorry to tell ya but I had the same f**king nightmare, I was told that it would take 4 weeks for delivery and it took 12, f**king nob heads at the Renault dealors, they all seem to have the same attitude, my Cup eventually arrived minus the following items

1. 172 Cup badges on A pillar

2. No alarm

3. No tyre foam or wheel jack

Ive owned the Cup for 2 months and am still trying to get them to fit the alarm.

Good luck, its worth the wait once you get the beast.

Typical Renault. Guy at work had this with his Laguna. Go in in a suit and threaten to cancel. Get a date and if they break it again cancel the order and threaten complaints to every possible listener (like What Car, AutoExpress, Renault UK, Renault France, and to the Citizens Advice Bureau to see about who you should complain to officially)

When you go in, make sure you wait till there are other customers in there and make yourself heard.

Generally be an 4rse with them and let them hang themselves. Theyll soon sort it out.

He is correct about the Alarm/Immobiliser. Im not sure how many other countries use Thatcham as an indication of alarm quality, so Id imagine that the cars are built and then an appropriate alarm and immobiliser is fitted that conforms to the alarm insurance standard in that country.

Mine was fitted in the UK because I have a slip of paper (Thatcham proof) stating this.

My car was also delayed 3 times, it is incredibly annoying my friend, but is one of these things that just happens.

Mine was delayed because of front brake part sourcing problems, and then again, and finally because they were behind with importing cars from France to Britain, but believe me, when you get it, no amount of previous delay can remove the smile from your face.

Keep us all posted.

Best regards - Laurence

This is how Renault work........ I am still waiting for the delivery of my car which was due the same time as yours.....Ill keep you posted as thats more than Renault do

mine was given a 4-5 week waitin list, i was updated daily and it came early 2 weeks later. thats 3 weeks early, not one thing missing, with a free renault umbrella and chrome keyring,
i think some renaults are (much) better than others!

I dont have the same car but my delivery was flawless, i actually got the car a week before i expected to get it.

He is right about the cars having the Alarm fitted at the Import Center !!

However if it (was) at the import centre then u should have had it well before now !!

They take approx 4- 7 days to exit the import centre once they have reached the uk !! Thats including the alarm fitment and the pdi !!

They can also check on their ordering system (Sedra) at any point and it will give them a delivery date. It may not always be accurate but they can check. Ask them to email distribution and find out why you havent got your car !! The distribution centre will check the car and see why it hasnt been delivered.

I must admit though there have been a few delays recently, but only by a few days !! And a email to the distribution centre has always sorted it out.

Good Luck.

Thanks for all the info! The sales manager was going to e-mail the import centre and find out what the delay is. He should be ringing me back today or tomorrow morning. If he doesnt, Ill be going down there to get seriously arse-y!!!!

I can understand a delay if the car isnt in the country but to have waited 2 weeks already for the car to have an alarm fitted and get it moved to my dealer near Manchester, and to still have no delivery date, is lousy service.

They have been checking the ordering system (or so Im told) and theres always been a green light, even when the car hasnt turned up.

I actually have the VIN number of the car I was originally supposed to have been allocated. Ill be interested to see if I get the same car - assuming I dont throw my toys out of the pram and cancel the order in the meantime!!!!!!

Good Luck with the car mate, Im about to order my Clio Cup, luckily my best mate is a Renault Salesman. He has advised me to order at least 8 weeks in advance to be safe. Want the car in first week of September for varying reasons, that means ordering in early July!!!

Will say though have had two other new Clios in last two years and had no problems on the delivery front. Now on the reliability / service side of things thats another story! For example found 14pints of water in the spare wheel tray in my current car ( 12 mnths old!) Took two visits for them to work out a window was leaking.

My Cup is sat in the side room at Renault. Signing for it tomorrow and will get it prob next Weds. Really...cant ...wait!!!! Driving a Jetta GTI around at the mo. Up for sale £800 if anyone is interested. Not my car but it runs well enought and sounds sweet too.

Hes right about the alarm, i have a Sir-Tiffy-Cat that states my Cup has had an alarm fitted. My delivery date was 26th June, but guess what is sat outside my house now!

Trouble is BikeMan - many dealers DONT! They wait for the customer to locate the problems and missing bits themselves!!

Gotcha - sorry. Bit slow there

Still not heard from the sales manager a) whats been going on and b) what my third delivery date is. Not happy, not happy at all. :(

And to top it all off, my bikes on the blink too

wonder if the Renault dealers collect them from the same import centre as the independant dealers. mmmmmmmmmmmmm  and when exactly do Renault dealer cars stop being imports???

could it possibly be when they fit an alarm and charge 3k more than independant dealers for the car?

Renault took PDI away from dealers as they got very very cheap deal with CAT. If you look at cars brought in from CAT they have stickers on the doors to let the dealers know they have been done. Typical Renault cutting corners all the time. So fed up now with all the problems that im seeing a solicitor about it. In the end may sell it and buy Skoda RS, will get better service if nothing else. Renault wont car which is shame.

my cup is delayed too mate, told 2 - 3 weeks from order, got a date of 20th june and now renault say they wont be getting the cars until around 8th july.

I am ordering from a website though who buy the cars from Renault and sell them on pre-registered at a good discount.

Sure it will all come together in the end.

Spoke a different sales guy on Wednesday. Apparantly the delivery dates you get from Renault should always be treated as estimated dates. They can, and do, change regularly. Ive been told my car should be at the dealers soon and they will ring me when its physically sitting on their tarmac.

This is crap service as far as Im concerned, but what can I do? If youre not part-exchanging a car (as Im not) it makes juggling insurance and your existing car a nightmare.

Id cancel the order and buy online, but then Id be without a car even longer. The system sucks :(

The car had better be worth it after all this...

Had good service from my dealer actually. Order my 172 on 27th Dec and he said 6 weeks untill i can pick it up....

4 weeks later he rang up and said " you car car is here, sir". As it it was towards the end of the month i asked if he could register on the 1st of the feb so ill have a full 12 months Tax. he said no probs..

No messing about from him.... it was the third renault we had bought from him though :)

Black 172 :D picking up today.....Now thinking this car is the Exsorcist, given the day its actually ready to collect:eek:

Is it a renault dealer? or is it an import dealer? Import cars dont have alarms installed. you have to install one yourself or get soemone else to do it.

Full UK cars should have a Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser. Its not fitted at the factory, so an import car may not have one depending on the spec of the car in the country it was originally intended for.
