If it was not you simply write back to Liverpool Victoria stating the facts.

Do you work in or were you at the same town that the accident happened in? If so I appreciate that it could be difficult for you to prove that it was not you. Did Liverpool Victoria quote you the make of car involved?

I would suggest that if you state that it was not you and that you were either at work or at your girlfriends at the time of the accident and you can prove it the insurance company will accept your explaination.

Anyway good luck....im sure thats its a dreadful mistake...keep us posted. :)

cheers mate, this incident happened abut 3 miles away from where i work!!

all thats on the letter is my number plate detail nothing else, no discription of me or my car just the nuber plate................

When I was 17 I smashed up 2 cars, had no license, no tax, no insurance and no MOT and the car was in my name. I speeded off and sold the car that same day.
Somebody got the plate number and I was recieving letters asking for my details etc.
I kept blagging them saying I sold that car months ago and gave a fake name and address of who I sold it to.
They came back saying the name add addy dont match.
I told that thats what he told me, not my fault, said if theres anything else I can help with then dont hesitate to contact me.
Got away with it and learned my lesson!

So im sure if it wasnt really you, you can do it too!

Maybe someone had selected randomly a number for fake plates and it just so happened to be your number.

Or perhaps someone reported the number of the ACTUAL car involved and got a number or letter wrong and yours came up.

Get it sorted ASAP as you dont want a claim pending when your re-newal comes up.

This happened to a friend of mine, he was told he was being claimed against even though the accident occoured over 100 miles away in a town hed never been to.

Phone them (LV) up and say you have recieved a letter blah blah. Then ask them to describe to you the vehicle in the accident. Without saying what you drive to get a first idea of detail.

Also, find out whos claiming against you if possible, they may have a grudge and trying to get to you.

Worst case scenario is they had a ding, didnt want to claim and saw your plate and are trying to claim from your insurance.

If this all fails to get you off the hook it looks likes youll have to go through a court case. In which case you should win and hopefully they will have to pay the fees.
