Electrical/immobilier/UCH issue - help needed.

  Clio 172
Hi,
My 172 Clio is declining to start most of the time - there's an issue with the electrics. The garage that it has been towed to are very out of their depth with the intricacies of Renault electrics so any advice on here would be very gratefully received. It's getting to the point of scrapping the car which seems a shame for the sake of a loose wire and/or poo mechanic.

Car is not starting.
Battery is fully charged and functional - it has been checked/charged.
Immobiliser red light is solid when the ignition is turned on - occasionally this has gone out and the vehicle has started but only very intermittently.
Headlights, indicators, hazard warning lights, central locking all not functional - this has led the garage in the direction of a faulty UCH unit.
Earths in engine bay have been checked - initially this was the diagnosis from the RAC - but the car has apparently been extensively drop tested and the garage assure me these are fine.
There is continuity in the fuses/relays so these have been ruled out.
UCH unit was sent away to be repaired and this didn't solved the issue.
I purchased a 2nd-hand UCH, ECU, key transponder and Key - this still hasn't solved the issue. The new key is still not being recognised by the new UCH.
Continuity to the key transponder has been tested and this appears fine.

My garage is now out of ideas on where to go.
I've tried to find an auto electrical specialist in Central London to come and have a look but that has proved difficult.
Given the intermittent nature of the initial issue, I still suspect a bad connection in the wiring somewhere but i'm no electrician and any specific areas to test would be gratefully received.
I've spent a lot of time searching and haven't found anything specific. White clip at bottom of fusebox has been looked at. Would the earth points on the dashboard be potentially be causing an immobiliser issue?

Thanks in advance - i'm always amazed at how helpful this forum can be at times.

it could be the famous clio immobiliser problem.i fixed mine permanently with a £60 device u plug into the diagnostics port.

  dan's cast offs.
Fast flash is key not recognised. It's seeing the key but not clearing. If you've tried another uch then it's relay or wiring/connection issue.

Got breakdown cover?

Thanks - I looked into this but the car wont even crank - that seems to be occurring in most of this instances on the forum where the a diagnostic tool has fixed the immobiliser.

Yes - i suspect it's a relay/wiring somewhere but the garage where the car is has allegedly checked these and found nothing. RAC couldn't find anything by the roadside either.
It's becoming clear that I need to find a specialist - the garage where it is are clearly over their head.

thks

ah yes mine was cranking just not able to get the immobiliser to recognise the key. incidently for anyone that has that issue.the device i mentioned isnt a home diagnostic tool.but an actual immobiliser overide left permanently plugged in. programmed with a code for the particular key fob serial.u can use any ordinary £5 shop cut key .

Was it cranking on the original UCH, but not firing?

Hi all. Just popped into the garage and found that the car is now cranking and the lights now work. It’s just the immobiliser. Is this a quick fix? Thks
