Urgent Help Required on a Clio 182

March 2004 registered Clio 182 in racing blue with stripes, up for £10,995 with 12k on the clock.

Is this car worth the cash, its stickered up as a Clio Cup but is the 182..

Its done quite a few miles for its ages. Plus you can get a brand new one for under £12k from Car Select.

Just depends if you want to wait for delivery of a new car i think.

Was gonna push it down to £10,500. I think the same car off net new is £12,100, then you have the joy of not getting a p/x and waiting for a while. The dealer would not go anymore than £7k and my 2002 Clio. I explained the new car prices as it was up for £11,995..i laughed in his face.

I wanna 182, but this one is nice..tho is the £1500 extra worth 12,000miles...

Its a Full Fat Clio with the Cup Pack fitted...

Go for a new one, as you get the full warranty and know its not been ragged until you do it.

to give you an idea i jus sold arctc blue April 04 with cup packs 16k for £10100 think you could get him down towards that figure no problem

We paid £10,500 for ours with 6k miles off of e-bay with both CUP packs fitted.

Is now approaching 10k and loosening up nicely

Paid £10500 mine with cup suspension and 1500 miles so I rekon u can definatley get a bit off him.

Bargaining is hard but remember u can always walk away and come back, preferably with him begging for you to come back

Just the car is up at £10995, they said they could knock £500 off it..So im at £10,495...just need a bit more..

You checked you can get insured on it? Age and no claims etc?

If you really want this car and have your mind set on it then just play a small game of bluff.Offer £10k and say its that or you will go elsewhere and wait if you have to.Not a good time for car sales and you might get it.No doubt he will do the meet halfway routine but stand firm and say no.

Its part of buying and if you end up not getting it as low as you would like you have tried at least and can still buy the car.When im in that position i always get really stubborn and think to myself...whos pocket is the extra few £££ better off in...the answer is always the same !

If i get to a position where by im really close to what im happy with i simply tell them to let me have it at the price i want and ill buy it right now,it usually works because you are letting them know you are serious and they have the sale if they agree.

Insurance say i had to be over 25, but as ive had a MG Metro, then the XR2i, followed by the Clio they let it slip for a few months. The increase is £240 till may for this car. Renewal so far is £880 full comp with £120 excess at 25 in April, Renewal in April....

if they wont budge down on initial price say 10495 plus free service and a tank of fuel that should save you 200 notes if the tyres are on their way out which will they probably are on a 12k car get two new fronts @ £90 each thats another 180 so the car will end up costing about 10100 ish.

when your doing the deal remember to say your bit and keep quiet the longer your quiet the more the dealer has to think the longer he thinks the more he will want to do the deal with you!

Thanks for the advice, ill let you know how i get on. Im gonna offer £6895 + my car for the clio. Works out at £10,495 then ask for free servicing, and fuel. They gave out a voucher ages ago to get £250 off a recommendation, so if i show that they might not go for it. If they do, i get some cash back as the cash goes to the gf, so ive conned her into giving it me...as im buying the car....

The car has only been on the forecourt for 3 days, so im sure they are not desperate to sell the car. Im taking all the kids with me this morning, and were gonna let them run around free around the dealership, the 3yr old was slapping the salesmans face last time i went in...think he aint gonna be happy to see him again.

I dont know about the tyres, they may hang out got full price, i know they cant sell it again till they open next wednesday if i dont have it, but their always is the case that someone may buy it. Its got both packs fitted, and the stripes so its worth more than a standard 182, so maybe worth paying over standard 182 prices. He knows im keen, so lets go try it..

I would leave me number for people to ring me up and chat to me during the deal, but i think the kids will trash the christmas tree again, one kid likes sitting in the megane convertable for some reason....

I think im going to fold like a wet paper bag, as the gf aint good at dealing with car salesman. I think ill make me offer, and walk away..
